Global Frequency Coverage

Zoon uses 2.4 GHz wireless frequency with global coverage.  The major benefit of 2.4GHz is that it instantly connects to the global market. Other wireless technologies that use sub-GHz band often experience fractured markets. You do not necessarily need to carefully choose the right markets with suitable regulations or risk the expense of supporting various bands.

+21km Data Range

ZOONv3 data ranges from 6km to 21km and the range depends on the configuration of data bandwidth. You can send data up to a 6 kilometer range using 125Kbps speed while 0.5Kbps speed can send data to 21 km using the antenna comes with the module +5dBi.

Mavlink NEVER LOST

ZOON has awareness to MAVLINK protocol that majority of robots and drones use. If the drone/robot does not receive data over a period, it dynamically increases its data range by gradually decreasing data speed.

As the drone goes far away, It automatically filters, and only sends important MAVLINK packets like gps coordinate, orientation, heartbeat, rtcm(RTK GPS) and critical control commands when your drone are too far away(up to 21km).

Only, available on ZOONv3 models.

LoRa High Data Speed

ZOON can reach up to the data speed of 256Kbps which is suitable for drone and other robotics applications. The speed is highest for modems that use LoRa chirp spread spectrum in the market. The data speed can range from 256Kbps to 0.5Kbps.

Full-Duplex LoRa

Zoon has Full-Duplex driver compatible with all data unlike other Lora modems available in the market. No need for extra driver and is easy to send data. You only need to write data packets to USB/UART port of the modem.

Note also that physical layer is half-duplex just like in WiFi.

LoRa Mesh

Mesh network architecture is crucial part of IOT and swarm applications. All Zoon models come with built-in LoRa mesh functionality that enables you to broadcast the message to all receivers or send to certain Zoon modules.

MAVLINK SWARM

MAVLINK SWARM enables hassle free mesh functionality for the MAVLINK packets without changing any single line of your data transmission code. As MAVLINK packets already

contain system_id ,which is the

equivalent of mesh id in mesh networks, You don't need to configure each module in the mesh network, and adapt your codes for the mesh. All you have to do is to prevent fragmentation of MAVLINK packets. MAVLINK SWARM automatically prevents fragmentation of MAVLINK data packest, so that each receiver gets whole packet without having any data intereference.

UNLIMITED MESH BROADCAST

Thanks to LoRa's chirp spread spectrum which does not need frequency syncrhonization for its floating frequency access channel. In theory, 1 ZOON transmitter can transmit data to millions of ZOON receivers without synchronizing its frequency with receivers.
NOTE: ZOON still uses data preamble to synchronize time in the receiver.

Small Antenna Footprint

A 2.4 Ghz band requires smaller/compact antenna unlike the one required for 463/868/900Mhz. For a 2.4 Ghz Zoon, a small antenna that measures x2.7 is required for 868Mhz to function with the same gain. All Zoon modules come with antennas with +6dBi gain.

Higher Antenna Gain

When It comes to antenna utilization, 2.4Ghz bands have higher antenna gains than sub-Ghz bands. In fact, 2.4Ghz can can utilize a satellite dish x10 times more by having  +10dBm extra gain as effective as in 1Watt 868Mhz radio transmitters.

+36dBm Effective Radiated Power

Maximum Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) is 36 dBm (4 watt) according to the FCC part 15 rules. However there is an exception in the 2.4 GHz band that does not apply to sub-Ghz  bands in a fixed point-to-point link. You can also use an antenna of 24dBi gain to transmit power of 20 dBm for a total EIRP of 44dBm in the 2.4GHz band.Learn more.

Works on Linux, Mac, Windows, Android devices.

ZOON works plug and play on Linux, Mac, Windows PCs. Also in Android tablets and smartphones.

Encrypted

ZOON use ChaCha 20 encryption. ChaCha 20 encryption is three times faster than software-enabled AES, and is not sensitive to timing attacks.

USB/UART Connector

Zoon comes with UART together with a micro USB connector that you can connect to your PC, Tablet or Pixhawk and Cube Carrier boards used for robotics. It communicates over long distances and no need for writing with any driver code to lora module.

Builtin Error Correction

Zoon uses long interleaving error correcting convolutional codes to correct up to 75% errors in your data.

Mavlink RSSI Ready

Mavlink is the most popular data serialization protocol for robot/drone use. Zoon sends signal power (RSSI of signal) information  along with Mavlink packets, such that Ground Control Station software can show the signal power.

Reflection Immunity

Factors such as physical barriers like mountain reflections can affect radio communication in rural areas. However, Zoon uses Lora chirp spread spectrum with stronger immunity to those reflections. Therefore, you can get long range data without any interference or reflection from the obstacles around.

Wireless Immunity

Majority of radio devices work on 2.4 GHz band, and they quite often interfere with each other. Thanks to LoRa’s chirp spread spectrum, which makes signal  immune to interference and noise from radio signals produced by other traditional radio modems like WiFi as well as Zigbee, except LoRa, itself.

500 Physical Radio Channels

Zoon can work with 1.6 Mhz bandwidth for high speed of 256KBps as well as 200 Khz bandwidth for 0.5 Kbps unlike other protocols that require wider bandwidth. You can create about 500 channels at 0.5Kbps and 100 channels at 158 Kbps that do not interfere with each other.

Easy Configuration

You only need to plug the Zoon into your PC for visual interface configuration. You can perform the following functions: Set Network Frequency Channel, Activate/Deactivate Mesh network mode, as well as Activate/Deactivate Mavlink Power mode. Learn more
